One of my favourite sayings is “Eat breakfast like a King, lunch like a Prince, and dinner like a pauper”. Mostly, this is because I love breakfast. But, I also like to sleep late on weekends. Which is why I’ve decided to put together this list of my favourite breakfast and brunch spots in Amsterdam.
So whether you like breakfast at 8.00am, or brunch at 11.00am, hopefully you’ll find something on this list that is perfect for your next city break to Amsterdam!

The Best Breakfast and Brunch Spots in Amsterdam
1. Omelegg – City Centre
My favourite way to start any day is with eggs. Usually scrambled or fried, on toast. But with Omelegg I have to make an exception for omelettes because their breakfasts are eggcellent! Sorry, not sorry…
You can get a plain old omelette at Omelegg for just €5.90. Or upgrade to a Dutch style omelette with ham & farmer’s cheese for €6.95. But in my opinion, splurging out on one of their unique omelettes that combine flavours from around the world is well worth it!
The Greek Wedding omelette (with feta cheese, sundried tomatoes, olives, chive and oregano) costs €7.95. Or you can experience a taste of Mexico with their €8.50 Spicy Mariachi omelette (with jalapeños, bell peppers, mushrooms, onion, sundried tomatoes & coriander).

Phone Number: +31 20 233 2406
Location: Nieuwebrugsteeg 24, 1012 AC Amsterdam
Opening Hours: Mon – Fri: 07.00 – 16.00; Sat – Sun: 08.00 – 16.00
2. Café De Bieb
I discovered Café De Bieb after a tip from one of the staff members working at the Flying Pig Uptown Hostel. By the time I wandered into the café/bar I was also starving, but the staff didn’t seem to notice my hangry mood at all!
In fact, while the food here was really good and amazingly well priced, it was the friendly staff that made my visit so pleasant. That being said, the crispy friend bread (which was definitely freshly baked) and avocado is worth the trip as well!
You can grab breakfast here from just €2 until 12.00pm. After midday, the lunch menu runs until 10:00pm and dishes are priced from just €5 to €8.50! Not convinced? Click here to see the full menu.

3. Betty Blue
Another friendly cafe with fantastic eggs, Betty Blue is located super close to the Red Light District for those of you who don’t want to venture too far away from the city centre.
While I’m including it in this list of the best breakfast and brunch spots in Amsterdam, Betty Blue is actually a bakery. And an extremely cute bakery at that! Reminiscent of my favourite cake shops in Paris (see more here!), they bake a variety of pastries and sweet treats in store. Great for those of you who prefer coffee & cake for breakfast!

4. The Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club is by far one of the most well know and popular breakfast and brunch spots in Amsterdam. And with an exciting young atmosphere that flows between the staff and the clientele it’s easy to see why.
My only fault with the Breakfast Club cafe on Bellamystraat was the huge wait we had for food on my last trip there. And my eggs weren’t warm. But if you’re not in hurry to eat, its a great place to grab brunch during the week or an early breakfast on the weekends.

5. Lunchroom Warmoes
If you’re looking for a basic and budget Dutch brunch spot in Amsterdam, then you’ll find it at Lunchroom Warmoes.
Situated close to the very touristic Red Light District of the city, Lunchroom Warmoes is a great escape into traditional Dutch life. Breakfast consists of a thin omelette, pancakes, toast and juice. So it’s not as exciting as some of the other brunch spots in Amsterdam. But it’s definitely authentic!

Location: Warmoesstraat 56, 1012 JG Amsterdam
Opening Hours: not specified online

I was invited for breakfast at Lunchroom Warmoes after attending the STAY WYSE Conference 2017 , but all other brunch spots mentioned here are places I paid for and visited alone or with friends.
