I’m late! I’m late! For a very important [dinner] date!
For those of you thinking the above is reference to the fact that I’ve finally found myself a hunky and intelligent French hottie boyfriend… just no.
But I did get nominated by the fabulous Ever Thought of Trying blog to share with you all my ideal #TasteOfTravel menu consisting of “the most delicious and memorable starter, main and dessert you’ve discovered from around the world” as specified here.
Ever Thought of Trying also nominated two other bloggers as well as creating their own menu, and because everyone is more punctual than me you can see what they all shared by clicking on their blog names below! Spoiler… one of the menus includes the 99 ice cream… for the win!
Warning, these are the dishes I find most memorable and delicious. They are very unlikely to taste good together. Just saying.
So, without further ado here is my…
#TasteOfTravel Menu
Starter
I am far more likely to miss breakfast than I will ever be to miss my morning coffee… and this spot above is the spot for coffee in Athens. I’ve written about this gorgeous little shop before, but the key message is that they provided the jolt I needed every morning in the form of Freddos. In a nutshell, these are cold iced coffees… but during a week in Athens I couldn’t find another shop who produced better coffee than they did here. My lifeline!
Main
The first ten years of my life were spent in West London, and despite experiencing some incredible main meals around the globe since then nothing quite tops the bill of an Indian spread bought in Southall and shared with family.
After Indian independence, many Anglo-Indian families settled in West London and the curry culture there is just out of this world. The photo above was taken at one of my favourite Indian cafés, Rita’s, but truthfully almost anything you buy in the stores there will rock your socks off. Unfortunately, I haven’t yet had the chance to travel to India and try the ‘proper’ stuff – but hopefully one day I will!
Dessert
Aside from a severe obsession with Galaxy chocolate bars when I was younger, I’ve never really had much of a sweet tooth. In fact 70% of my time spent in Europe is usually spent moaning about pastry fillings consisting of chocolate and sweet apple rather than sausages and steak. I’m British incase you’re wondering why… home of the best meat pies and pasties ever.
So when it comes down to dessert I have to say it would be a cheese board for me. A French cheese board of course, peppered with strong camembert, a strong goats cheese (Crottin de Chavignol), and the stinky and sticky Époisses de Bourgogne. Then again I wouldn’t mind a bit of Dutch Green Pesto Gouda mixed in there somewhere.
Those of you who follow me on Instagram will have seen me raving about a fabulous restaurant just outside of Paris. Truthfully speaking, the three-course meal I ate there last week was the best food I’d eaten in years. Not only was their cheese board fantastic, the whole meal just melted in my mouth! So if you like good cheese, wine, risotto, and meat, make sure to pay a visit to Le Wauthier by Cagna in Saint Germain en Laye.

haha like I said probably not best eaten in a row! Oooh and where is Lahore – are you going to share the secret?!
Whitechapel is the mecca of curries in London & that’s where Lahore is. There’s two, but Lahore One on Commercial Road is the fave. Definitely worth checking out!
Oh damn I don’t know when I’m going to be in London again! But I’ve jotted Lahore down in my London tips section of my notepad so I will let you know if I make it!
