First of all, I have to apologise for the muddy state of my Redwood Women’s Waterproof Boots in the photos in this review. They’re muddy, wet, and a little bit scuffed. But really, what walking boot review would be complete without proof of wear?
And also, I want to break the news right now that Mountain Warehouse no longer makes these boots in the colour I own. Which sucks, I know. I even emailed the press team to be 100% sure!
However, they’re super comfortable. And they’re not at all bulky. Which is usually a very tricky combination to find when looking for incredible women’s walking boots! So I decided to continue with this review anyway.
In fact, the Redwood Women’s Waterproof Boots by Mountain Warehouse now come in black, with a purple lining. And I don’t know about you guys, but I think they look just as smooth as the raspberry purple pair that I have owned for the last year and a half.

Redwood Women’s Waterproof Boots Review
About The Boots
The last time I owned walking boots was when I was about 15 and my parents dragged me to Wales. It rained the whole time, my teenage baggy jeans were always soggy, and the boots were ugly. They were comfortable, but ugly.
But in January last year, I began spending more time outdoors. I strolled into my local Mountain Warehouse store in Chichester, and not surprisingly the Redwood Women’s Waterproof Boots were the first pair to catch my eye.
I mean look at them, they’re the same colour as my logo!
But when it comes to walking boots, it’s what’s on the inside that counts.
So after making sure they fit well in the store, I bounced back onto the high street and started planning my first walks of the new year!
A Few Details About The Redwood Women’s Waterproof Boots
It wasn’t just the colour that made me choose them. Which is why I’m still writing this review even though they now only come in black.
The Redwood Women’s Waterproof Boots are waterproof, with a breathable IsoDry technology. This technology means that moisture is allowed to flow one way through the lining, and not the other. Which means your sweat can escape, but no water can enter.
They’re also super lightweight! They have a 100% rubber outsole which means that the boots are super flexible and not as stiff as other walking boots I’ve tried. And they’re not heavy at all. Of course, if you’re travelling with carry-on luggage then they might take up a bit too much space. But if you have the space to pack them, then the flexible and lightweight properties are a huge plus!
The walking boots have a moulded foam footbed. This is what makes them so comfortable and honestly, with the added plus that they’re so lightweight and breathable, I could just as well be wearing trainers. The arch and toe have extra cushioning, and I’ve not had one blister so far.
Redwood Women’s Waterproof Boots: Pros & Cons
Pro: Style
I’m as comfortable wearing these boots exploring a new city, paired with my favourite jeans, as I am taking them on a long soggy hike across the national park near me. Mostly, I love that they’re not as bulky or heavy as you’d expect of other walking boots.
Pro: Comfort
As I mentioned before, I’ve not had one blister from these shoes. I have to admit, I’ve never taken a long multi-day hike in them. But I’ve taken some long, steep walks across very uneven terrain and they’ve not rubbed once!
Con: Ankle Support
One aspect that might cause an issue if you are taking longer multi-day hikes is that I don’t find an awful lot of ankle support in the Redwood Women’s Waterproof Boots. The whole fit is slightly larger than you might expect (I have to wear thick socks with mine) which means that they don’t feel so secure around the ankle.
Redwood Women’s Waterproof Boots: Where to Buy
At the time of writing this review, the Redwood Women’s Waterproof Boots in black are currently £49.99 on Amazon, reduced by £30.00!
