Remember the days when you had to get to an airport three hours before take-off to stand in a queue and check-in in person? I do, and I can honestly say that the move to an online check-in procedure was a lifesaver. So of course, it was only a matter of time until hostels decided to add their own option to check-in online. Recently I did just that for my stay in London, and decided to screenshot the process to show you how exactly how to check-in online with St Christopher’s Inns Hostels!
P.s. The hostel I stayed in opened in January 2017 and has quickly become my go-to hostel when I have to be in the city. You can read the review here: REVIEW: St Christopher’s Inn Liverpool Street, London.
How To Check-In Online With St Christopher’s Inns Hostels
Step 1: Book Your Stay
Before you can check-in you obviously need to book your stay with St Christopher’s Inns. The easiest way to do this is online on their website, or via their mobile app which you can download here.
I also find that another step to making the online check-in process smoother is to pay my full balance when I book online. However, this isn’t necessary and you can do this later when you arrive at the hostel.
In fact, with St Christopher’s Inns you don’t have to pay a thing until you arrive at the hostel as they just got rid of deposits! Which also means free cancellation!
Step 2: Wait For Your Confirmation Email or Online Check-In Reminder Email
As soon as you book your stay online at the St Christopher’s Inns website, you will be able to check-in online. My advice is to do it straight away, but if you get distracted they will also send you a reminder email before the online check-in desk closes!
So you don’t have to worry about putting the date in your diary or forgetting to do it!
Step 3: Follow The Link In The Email To The Website
You’ll see in the email that online check-in closes at midnight of the day before your arrival date. So just click the big orange link in the centre of the email straight away to get yourself checked-in in less that a few minutes!
Step 4: Under ‘Manage Your Booking’ Click ‘Check In Online’
After clicking the link in the email you will be directed to a landing page. The left hand side will have details of your upcoming booking. And on the right hand side you will have two links under the heading ‘Manage Your Booking’. Click the link that says ‘Check In Online’.
P.s. You’ll notice that this page will also give you the opportunity to cancel your booking if you need to. If you decide to cancel your booking after checking-in online, then you won’t be able to get a refund.
Step 5: Double Check Your Booking Details on the Summary Page
The next page you’ll be taken to has all the details of your booking; including your dates, your room type, the price per night and how many people you booked for.
I’d always advise giving this page extra attention. It’s a massive nuisance to find out you’ve booked the wrong dates somewhere. I know because I’ve done it!
Step 6: Enter Your Passport Details
Once you’ve double-checked the summary page, it’s time to officially check-in online with St Christopher’s Inns.
To check-in online you’ll need:
- Your home address
- Your passport/ID details
Once again, I highly suggest triple-checking to make sure you’ve entered your passport/ID details correctly at this stage. Then just click save and you’re finished!
Step 7: Print Your Check-In Or Download The St Christopher’s App
The final step, much like with airline check-in, is to save and print your check-in details.
However, if you’re not near a printer or have forgotten to print your check-in confirmation, then you can also load the confirmation via the St Christopher’s mobile app which is available on Apple iPhones and Android.
A Few Final Things To Note
- You will still need to keep your passport/ID with you when you arrive at the hostel. Just because you entered your details online, the staff may still want to double check them.
- If at any point you need to manage your booking or check-in online with St Christopher’s Inns then head to this address: book.st-christophers.co.uk/manage.

Nice post. I will keep the information in mind.
From a logistical standpoint this is nice, but what about the human interaction that you lose?
From my experience with it at St Christopher’s Inn Liverpool Street there was still plenty of interaction when I went to get my keys. The staff still had to give me a map and explain the events and tours they ran. And actually if anything the experience was more pleasant because we got to chat away about the destination and hostel, rather than go through the logistics of payment and process 😀 It would be great to hear from others though too!
