Why You Should Be Using Europe’s Famous Hostels to Find the Best Hostels in Europe

by Katie Dawes

When it comes to European travel, I have it a lot easier than a lot of you reading this right now. I live in the UK just across the sea from the continent, and over the years I’ve developed quite a good few hacks for finding the best hostels in Europe.

But for those of you who don’t live in Europe (which according to my stats is about half of you), a trip here only lasts a few weeks or months at a time. Or a year if you’ve saved up enough for a proper gap year.

So you really don’t want to be wasting that precious travel time in shitty hostels.

Which is where Europe’s Famous Hostels comes in quite handy.

What if I was to tell you that there are 51 hostels on and around the European continent that guarantee fun times, great value, central locations and best of all… an unforgettable experience?!

If you follow this blog, you’ll have read this before. But then I went on to talk about my first speaking experience and didn’t really give you any further advice so here are…

3 Reasons Why You Should Be Using Europe’s Famous Hostels to Find the Best Hostels in Europe

1. They only suggest the VERY best hostels in Europe

Have you heard of the Paradox of Choice? It basically suggests that when we’re given too many options our anxiety levels may increase and our satisfaction levels decrease. And if there’s one thing I don’t want when I travel it’s increased anxiety and decreased satisfaction!

Europe’s Famous Hostels understand this and made a commitment over the last 21 years to only accept the very best hostel from each city in Europe that they represent.

I can only agree. After staying in a few hostels in Bruges, St Christopher’s at The Bauhaus is my favourite and Europe’s Famous Hostels think so too!

2. Their hostels are unique

Hostels in Europe are becoming big business. In fact, hostels are becoming big business all over the world. But a lot of these hostels are part of larger chains that focus on consistency rather than individuality.

Europe’s Famous Hostels are all independently owned and that means that they each have their own personal character. One of them is on an island, another one is a floating hostel!

One of my all time favourites invited a different designer or friend to decorate each one of their rooms. Hostel ROOM in Rotterdam isn’t just individual and independent from the other Famous Hostels – each of its rooms is unique too!

3. You’ll experience all aspects of European life

Because each hostel is independent, each one strives their best to represent their local environment.

Which means by using Europe’s Famous Hostels to find the best hostels in Europe you’ll get to experience life by the beach one week, life up in the Swiss mountains the next, and finish up immersed in the historic culture of Jerusalem.

I definitely experienced this when I stayed at The Circus Berlin, which is centrally located in the heart of a city that has played a pivotal role in modern European history.

I really like Famous Hostels – I’ve stayed with them a couple of times in the past and I’ve never been disappointed (at least not yet!)

Wow, I’m surprised I hadn’t stumbled across the Famous Hostels site sooner.

It definitely makes it a lot easier to narrow down the choice, especially with so many hostels to choose from in places like Amsterdam and Prague.

Gonna browse through the site even more now and hopefully find some gems for my upcoming trip.

Thanks Katie!
